Last week, I re-read book 2 in the series and finally read the third one, too. I read each one in a day and remembered how much I love this series! I'm so glad the third book was even published (Harper had at first only bought the first 2) and I'm excited to see Ari and Sebastian and Violet's story continue, now in self-pubbed form. If you haven't checked this series out yet and you love Greek mythology, you really should give it a try!

I was really reluctant to start this series for some reason, but when I did it blew me away. I love how Shepherd combines The Island of Doctor Moreau, Jekyll & Hyde as well as other classics in a tale that is set in the 1890s but still so, so relevant in today's world! I can't wait to see what she does with Frankenstein and read more about Juliet, Edward, and Montgomery.

I have a confession to make: I got a signed copy of this at ALA when I met Holly Black, and I couldn't resist. I've already read it, and I'll probably read it again closer to release before I write my review. This much in advance: it's fantastic. It's both similar to and different from Holly's other faerie books. The writing and characters are just so wonderful. Holly knows the path to my secret hidden heart.

First off, can I say how much more I LOVE the UK cover?! The city is actually on it! And it doesn't look like a Middle Grade book!
Anyway, back to the facts. I loved Wither. The writing was fantastic and elaborate. I wasn't as blown away by Fever, but I'm still going to read Sever when it's out in the right edition. I'm really curious about this new Dystopian series! I've never read a book set in a city in the sky. I'm also interested in seeing how DeStefano will handle the suicide issue that I think is hinted at.

This sounds like so much fun! I really like the sense of humor used in the description :) I'm not a huge Pride & Prejudice fan but I love Steampunk! Also, it promises airships and pirates, so how could I say no? ;)

Okay, not going to lie, what first drew my attention was the cover. GORGEOUS. One of my favorites of the year so far! Furthermore, I read Rutkoski's The Shadow Society last October and it was amazing! (review) The world sounds intriguing and I like the conflict of music/art/love vs. the military/duty/power that I see forming here.

I read Robin Wasserman's Book of Blood and Shadows a little over a week ago and I was hooked! It was amazing and I was really impressed with the writing. The Waiting Dark sounds equally atmospheric - creepy, violent, intriguing, with a cast of very different characters. The 'awful things happening in a sleepy town' thing also reminds me of Stephen King novels. I really hope this one is as great as it sounds!

He comes from a line of Charmings — an illustrious family of dragon slayers, witch-finders and killers dating back to before the fall of Rome. Trained by a modern day version of the Knights Templar, monster hunters who have updated their methods from chainmail and crossbows to kevlar and shotguns, he was one of the best. That is — until he became the abomination the Knights were sworn to hunt.

That was a lifetime ago. Now, he tends bar under an assumed name in rural Virginia and leads a peaceful, quiet life. One that shouldn't change just because a vampire and a blonde walked into his bar... Right? 


This isn't my usual read but the description sounds really awesome! Definitely not the Prince Charming you're used to. Also, 'a vampire and a blonde walk into a bar'? Count me in. Sounds like mayhem, snark, and fun. The cover doesn't hurt either.
