Cover reveal: Pendomus, by Carissa Andrews

Hi everyone and welcome to a cover reveal organized by Giselle from Xpresso Book Tours!
This time it's for a YA sci-fi novel set in an advanced society on another planet.

Release date: October 10, 2013
Genre: YA sci-fi/fantasy dystopian (with paranormal romance)

SYNOPSIS
Humanity has colonized on a tidally locked planet known as Pendomus, a planet of extremes. Half eternal scorching desert and half perpetual arctic night. Surviving along the temperate band between the two, we've set up home in a complex known as the Helix. Within the Helix lies a highly sophisticated, highly technological society that seems to function solely on humans fulfilling their life's purpose. That purpose is determined and nurtured through a person's natural aptitudes, as read by their daily brain scans. Eating, sleeping, even procreation is handled by professionals. These basic concepts, no longer a part of society's every day norm.

Seventeen-year-old Runa Cophem longs to be more than part of the Helix machine. Her life inside is anything but fulfilling. She feels disconnected, and longs to be more than society dictates. Inside, no one socializes, no one interacts in a meaningful way. It's never set right with Runa. She would love nothing more than to reach out to her family, but not even her own mother can show any semblance of love for her. Instead, Runa has found solace in the ancient woods nearby, despite being strictly forbidden.

Runa's life takes an unforeseen turn when she's brutally attacked, and left for dead in those woods near the Helix. Rescued by a stranger with blue hair, she's immersed into a surprising way humanity has survived. Fueled by a yearning to belong, and an attraction she didn't even know was possible, Runa wants desperately to make a new life. Yet, there's much she doesn't know about herself, about the planet and the forces controlling her from afar.

What she needs is some answers.

THE AUTHOR
Born and raised in central MN, Carissa Andrews has always loved books. She started her career at 15
in a bookstore, just to be able to afford her book fetish. By 19, she worked for a magazine publisher. At 22, she was working for printers to learn their trade. At 27, she went back to school for graphic design, and became an award winning designer. Little did she know all of her experiences would lead her to becoming a self-publishing power house.

At 31, a magical world on a planet far away, invaded her mind.

At 34, she's learned what she needs to make her work successful.

Pendomus (Book 1 of the Pendomus Chronicles) will be released OCTOBER 10, 2013.

What's your take on the cover? I love the cold colors, the font, and the other graphic elements! I also think it's awesome that the author designed it herself! The synopsis has me really intrigued as well. I want to know why Runa was attacked and who that blue-haired stranger is!

Cover & Trailer Reveal and Giveaway: Losing Francesca, by J.A. Huss

Today I'm taking part in the cover trailer reveal for Losing Francesca, an NA contemporary romance by J.A. Huss, organized by Xpresso Book Tours.

BOOK INFO
Release date: July 1, 2013
Publisher: self-pubbed
Format: paperback & ebook

Description:
Francesca Sabatini came to America to take in the sights, celebrate her high school graduation, and have fun wasting time before college starts in the fall.

That’s not what happens.

Fresh off the plane and barely on American soil more than a handful of minutes, Francesca’s face is recognized by TSA scanners to be a match for a child who was kidnapped twelve years ago.

Brody Mason remembers the day Fiona Sullivan went missing during a family vacation in Italy and it’s haunted him his whole life. So when Francesca shows up at the Sullivan farm down the road, he’s compelled to figure out if this girl really is his long lost friend.

But Francesca knows she’s not Fiona Sullivan. She knows exactly who she is. At least she thinks she knows – until Brody Mason relentlessly pursues her and she begins to have feelings for him. Maybe being Fiona isn’t so bad?

Reality becomes blurred, secrets are revealed, and life will never be the same when the final questions are answered: Is she Francesca or Fiona? And where does she really belong?

What intrigues me about this book is that it's not about the time of the actual kidnapping and how the Francesca fares with her abductors, but about how she doesn't remember, and whether it's even true! It's kind of like hearing you've been adopted, only worse.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).

She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.

Cover Reveal: Faking It, by Cora Carmack

Hey guys :) Having been part of the cover reveal for Losing It way back when, I couldn't resist signing up for the reveal of Cora Carmack's new novel, Faking It. And what a pretty cover it is! I like how it picks up on the first one :)

  Image Map
FAKING IT by Cora Carmack
Release date: June 4, 2013
Publisher: William Morrow Paperbacks

Mackenzie "Max" Miller has a problem. Her parents have arrived in town for a surprise visit, and if they see her dyed hair, tattoos, and piercings, they just might disown her. Even worse, they're expecting to meet a nice, wholesome boyfriend, not a guy named Mace who has a neck tattoo and plays in a band. All her lies are about to come crashing down around her, but then she meets Cade.

Cade moved to Philadelphia to act and to leave his problems behind in Texas. So far though, he's kept the problems and had very little opportunity to take the stage. When Max approaches him in a coffee shop with a crazy request to pretend to be her boyfriend, he agrees to play the part. But when Cade plays the role a little too well, they're forced to keep the ruse going. And the more they fake the relationship, the more real it begins to feel.

I'm definitely intrigued now! I love that characters with tattoos and piercings are becoming more visible in novels at the moment, or at least that's how it seems to me. Can't wait to see how that's handled here! Mace sounds yummy too - wonder how he'll react to the Cade issue. And how exactly Max approaches him in that coffee shop, haha XD

What do you guys think of the cover and description? I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

Their undeniable attraction has Stone struggling with his inner demons.  As Dara slowly allows Stone to claim her heart, a little white lie to cover an ugly truth could determine whether she’s his savior or the final straw that will break his sanity.

Hi everyone, I'm excited to be part of another cover reveal today, organized by Giselle from Xpresso Book Tours! This time, it's for a YA contemporary novel. We're talking about Pieces by Michelle Davidson Argyle, the sequel to The Breakaway. I haven't read The Breakaway, the companion novel to Pieces, yet, though it's high on my TBR list! Both books sound amazing and I love the covers. See for yourselves!

Two years after watching her kidnappers go to prison, Naomi Jensen is still in love with one of them. Jesse will be released in a few years, and Naomi knows college is the perfect distraction while she waits. But when her new friend Finn makes her question what is right and what is wrong, she begins to wonder if Jesse is the one for her … until she discovers he's out on parole. Naomi must sort through her confusion to figure out where love and freedom truly lie—in Finn, who has no connections to her past, or Jesse, who has just asked her to run away with him.

Pieces is a companion to The Breakaway and can be read independently, if desired.

Isn't the cover pretty? I love covers with railways on them! They symbolize a road ahead, an attempt to get away and change. An escape. I also like how it compliments the first cover in terms of font and hiding the model's face. What's your opinion? Have you read The Breakaway?

EDIT: The trailer for Pieces was just made available... you can check it out below!

Cover Reveal: Sweet Peril, by Wendy Higgins

Hey guys! I'm really excited to be part of the cover reveal for the sequel to Wendy Higgins' Sweet Evil! It was one of my favorite reads of 2012 and when the future of the series was uncertain I was extremely worried about never getting to see how Anna and Kaidan's story continues. I was so relieved when I heard that Harper is going to continue publishing the trilogy!
But now, without further ado, the cover for Sweet Peril!

I think it's absolutely gorgeous! I love how it takes up elements of the first cover but also makes it clear that the situation is now different. Anna's expression is no longer innocent and unknowing. I also like that both her and Kaidan are dressed in the same color. I'm reading that as a connection. They are no longer exact opposites. However, they aren't openly touching so it's clear that they can't really be together. The color of the sky implies that the overall situation is dire but not without, maybe, hope? Anyway, those are my thoughts. I'd love to hear yours in the comments!

Here's the book blurb:
Anna Whitt, daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a claim. She’d been naive about a lot of things. Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Sweet Peril will be released on April 30, 2013 by HarperTeen.
Book 3 of The Sweet Trilogy, Sweet Reckoning, is slated for spring/summer 2014.

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.

Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She's aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn't until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He's the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

About the author:
Wendy Higgins was born in Alaska, grew up an Army brat, and lived all over the United States before settling in the Washington, DC area. She attended George Mason University for her undergrad degree in creative writing, and Radford University for her masters in curriculum and instruction. Wendy taught 9th and 12th grade English in a rural school before becoming a mother and author. She now lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, daughter, and son. Sweet Peril is her second novel.

Thanks to Wendy for letting me be part of the cover reveal!
I can't wait for the book to be released! I hope there will be a trailer :) What about you guys? What are your thoughts on the new cover or the series?

Cover Reveal & Giveaway: Sealer's Promise, by Kathy Coleman

I'm excited to be part of the cover reveal for Sealer's Promise, the debut novel of Kathy Coleman! Below you can find the book descritption and beautiful cover. But that's not all! There's also a trailer, and a youtube video of Kathy reading out the prologue! I think the video and live reading are a great idea and give more life to the book than a simple written excerpt. And, at the very end of this post, you can enter a rafflecopter giveaway.

The Book
Some promises are meant to be broken.

Sarena Lengton knows what it's like to die -- two years ago her soul journeyed to the Underworld. Zakariah, the Lord of Judgement, has offered to spare her life in return for a promise. Sarena must convince his younger brother, Kesyl, to use his powers as a Sealer to open a portal to the Underworld. Then Zakariah can absorb Kesyl's soul and experience life on Earth.

Now seventeen, Sarena has managed to avoid completing Zakariah's task. But when she witnesses a murder at Sterling High where nothing but a skeleton is left behind, Sarena knows she will need Kesyl's help to catch the killer. As they work together, she finds herself falling for the boy she promised to help destroy.

Sarena doesn't want to know what Zakariah will do to her if she defies him. But if she keeps her end of the bargain, Kesyl will lose his soul. Can Sarena keep her life and her love? Or will both be torn from her forever?

Doesn't it sound intiguing? I love stories about the Underworld. And about conflict and forbidden attraction - this story offers plenty of both. I really want to meet Kesyl and Zakariah for myself, and I'm curious about why Sarena was in the Underworld in the first place and why she was offered a deal at all. But for now, take another look at the gorgeous cover!

I love the details in Sarena's dress and the snow-covered trees in the background! I like her pose, too. She looks confident, she doesn't cower or look up to anyone else to save her. I'm curious about what you guys think.

Do you want to know more about the book and Kathy Coleman? Watch the trailer and the reading of the prologue below!
