Top Ten of 2013: best book covers

Welcome back to another post for the Top Ten of 2013 event!

Today is about the best covers of books released in 2013!

Again, this was really hard, though not as hard as I had feared. There are quite a few beautiful covers I haven't included though, partly because I think they'll be getting enough exposure elsewhere and partly because I've already featured many of those books (and their covers) elsewhere.
I have read most of the following ones, though not all of them. There is no particular hierarchy to the covers.

Dance of the Red Death, by Bethany Griffin
Splintered, by A.G. Howard
Paper Valentine, by Brenna Yovanoff
Ashes and Ice, by Rochelle Maya Callen
Winter Queen, by Amber Argyle
Delia's Shadow, by Jaime Lee Moyer
Ink, by Amanda Sun
MILA 2.0, by Debra Driza
Sins & Needles, by Karina Halle

Honarable mentions:

Phoenix, by Elizabeth Richards
Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, by April Genevieve Tucholke
Pivot Point, by Kasie West
Chantress, by Amy Butler Greenfield

What do you think of my pics? Are there any glaring absences? And what book covers of 2013 do you find most beautiful?

Stacking the Shelves: The Dark Endeavors of Cursed Nachtgeister

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews to showcase all the books we got in the past week. Those can be bought, won, gifted, for review, borrowed, print or ebooks... no matter, just share what you got :)

After having only one book to account for last week, I've got a much bigger load this time around and they all look awesome!!

For the book tour

Surface, by Tiffany Daune
Landlocked, by Tiffany Daune

I'm really excited for this series because it's about sirens, and that's something I've barely read about in YA! Plus, who could resist these covers?!

Won / bought / borrowed

Nachtgeister (Nightlife), by Rob Thurman
This Dark Endeavor, by Kenneth Oppel
The Beautiful and the Cursed, by Page Morgan
The 5th Wave, by Rick Yancey
The Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss
The Wise Man's Fear, by Patrick Rothfuss

I won The 5th Wave in a giveaway by Jasprit from The Reader's Den - thanks again! I've read nothing but great reviews so I'm curious about how I'll like it.
I borrowed the Patrick Rothfuss books from one of my BFFs and she loved book 1 so much that she ordered the second one before she even finished reading. I'll have to read those soon because she's itching to discuss them ;)
I've wanted This Dark Endeavor for a while because I love the idea of a Frankenstein prequel!! And The Beautiful and the Cursed was one of my most anticipated debuts of the year! I've already read  and loved it :) Now I'm pining for book 2 *sigh*
I bought Nachgeister (literally it would translate to 'ghosts of the night' - one of the rare occasions where I prefer the German title to the original one) on a whim today. A book/DVD/CD store in a town near me is closing down so now everything's 40-50% off. I remember spotting this in another store and loving the description but I wanted to buy it in English. Stupid me forgot the original title and author though so that never happened... I love the German cover and I hope I'll enjoy the book despite my usual dislike of translations.

Finally, a free (last weekend) eNovella

Shadow, by Amanda Sun

I really liked her novel Ink, and getting a glimpse at the main characters' life before should be interesting :)

So, that's it. I also got a couple awesome CDs and DVDs this week but those have no place here ;) What do you think of my haul, and what spoils did you carry home this week?

Stacking the Shelves: Ink, Fever, and Freaks

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews to showcase all the books we got in the past week. Those can be bought, won, gifted, for review, borrowed, print or ebooks... no matter, just share what you got :)

Last week was slow but this week more than made up for it! I wish there was more time to read, even though I realized today that I've already read 40 books this year!! o.O

For tour / review / NetGalley:

Girls Love Travis Walker, by Anne Pfeffer
Luminaire, by Ciye Cho
Ink, by Amanda Sun

I read an excerpt from Travis Walker on a blog a couple weeks back and really liked the voice, so when the sign-ups for the tour appeared I signed on immediately :)  I posted my review for Florence by Ciye Cho last week and since I enjoyed the book I agreed to review the sequel when the author offered it to me. As for Ink, I love Japanese culture so when the novel finally showed up on NG I had to request it and I'm so happy I got approved!

Print books:

Darkfever, by Karen Marie Moning
Bloodfever, by Karen Marie Moning
The Wind through the Keyhole, by Stephen King

Darkfever & Bloodfever were gifts from my BFF who re-bought the books so they'd match the editions for the rest of her copies of the series. She's been gushing to me about Barrons for forever so I hope I'll get around to meeting him soon!
The Wind Through the Keyhole is a book I was really excited about when it first came out! Another Dark Tower book! I read the first book in that series nearly 10 years ago and I still think about the characters quite often. I'm so glad I found this paperback edition - the cover is the prettiest version I've seen yet, and it's illustrated :)

Bought ebooks:

Crossing the Line, by Katie McGarry
Beautiful Freaks, by Katie M. John
Monument 14, by Emmy Laybourne

All of these were fairly cheap, Monument 14 is on sale for around 3$ (depending on locaction).

Free on Smashwords:

Winter Fae, by Melissa Turner Lee & Pauline Creeden

I sort of want to read so many of these at once >.< What do you think of them? And what did you get this past week?
Also, in case you missed it, I reviewed Debra Driza's MILA 2.0 this week :)
