Teaser Tuesday: Angelbound, by Christina Bauer

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Hey guys :) It's been ages since I've done a Teaser Tuesday, so I thought I'd mix things up a bit. That, and I just didn't feel like deciding what's on my winter TBR, and it would probably be mostly books I've featured before.

Anyway, here's some info on the book I'm teasing you with today:

Release date: December 17, 2013
Publisher: Ink Monster LLC
Format: ebook, 532 pages

Goodreads description:
Eighteen year old Myla Lewis is a girl who loves two things: kicking ass and kicking ass. She’s not your every day quasi-demon, half-demon and half-human, girl. For the past five years, Myla has lived for the days she gets to fight in Purgatory’s arena. When souls want a trial by combat for their right to enter heaven or hell, they go up against her, and she hasn’t lost a battle yet.

But as she starts her senior year at Purgatory High, the arena fights aren’t enough to keep her spirits up anymore. When the demons start to act weird, even for demons, and the King of the Demons, Armageddon, shows up at Myla’s school, she knows that things are changing and it’s not looking good for the quasi-demons. Myla starts to question everything, and doesn’t like the answers she finds. What happened seventeen years ago that turned the quasi-demons into slave labor? Why was her mom always so sad? And why won’t anyone tell her who her father is? Things heat up when Myla meets Lincoln, the High Prince of the Thrax, a super sexy half-human and half-angel demon hunter. But what’s a quasi-demon girl to do when she falls for a demon hunter? It’s a good thing that Myla’s not afraid of breaking a few rules. With a love worth fighting for, Myla’s going to shake up Purgatory.

The following scene takes place in the arena, just before Myla has to fight an evil soul.

Walker gives my shoulder a squeeze. "Myla was just about to greet her ghoul overlord properly, weren't you, Myla?" Standing next to Sharkie, even Walker looks vertically challenged.
"My bad." I bow extra-low. "Greetings, SKE-12."
His buggy black eyes narrow into slits. Sharkie always knows when I'm making fun of him, and it drives him crazy. "I'll have no mischief from you today."
I bow again, even lower this time. "Yes, I'm fresh out."
Sharkie turns to Walker, his black eyes flaring bright red. "Control her." His gaze swings back to me. "We've an especially evil human soul fighting today. I hope to watch you die at last."
-location 155 of 6902 of my eARC

I'm really enjoying the book so far! There's action, a kickass snarky protagonist, it's fun, and it's got fantastic world building :)
What do you guys think of my teaser, and what book did you pick today?

Teaser Tuesday: Ink Exchange, by Melissa Marr

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

It's been a very long time since I did one of these! But this week's TTT topic is just too hard, and I am FINALLY, after about a year of wanting and meaning to, re-reading Ink Exchange! It was my first Melissa Marr novel and I figured out that it was book 2 in the series a couple chapters in, but I just couldn't stop reading anymore. The re-read now, knowing what I do about book 1 and the rest of the series, is very interesting and enjoyable :)

Don't know the Wicked Lovely series? Have some Niall and Irial, two of my favorite characters. This is from Niall's perspective.

He realized now, though, that no matter how carefully he'd guarded his secrets, he'd been transparent to Irial. If the Dark King could read his emotions, could taste them, he'd known of Niall's weaknesses each time they'd met. I've been exposed to him the whole time. Irial didn't shame him for it. Instead he held out the same acceptance he'd offered centuries ago - and Niall didn't, couldn't, reply.
Irial said, "It's been a long time that you've been living for Keenan, paying back some perceived debt. We are what we are, Niall, neither as good or as evil as others paint us. And what we are doesn't change how truly we feel, only how free we are to follow those feelings."
Then he slipped away into the crowd, dancing with mortals as he went and looking every bit like he belonged there among them.
- Ink Exchange, pages 252-253 (bold emphasis is mine)

About Ink Exchange
Release date: April 24, 2008
Publisher: Harper Collins
Format: Paperback,  352 pages

Unbeknownst to mortals, a power struggle is unfolding in a world of shadows and danger. After centuries of stability, the balance among the Faery Courts has altered, and Irial, ruler of the Dark Court, is battling to hold his rebellious and newly vulnerable fey together. If he fails, bloodshed and brutality will follow.

Seventeen-year-old Leslie knows nothing of faeries or their intrigues. When she is attracted to an eerily beautiful tattoo of eyes and wings, all she knows is that she has to have it, convinced it is a tangible symbol of changes she desperately craves for her own life.

The tattoo does bring changes—not the kind Leslie has dreamed of, but sinister, compelling changes that are more than symbolic. Those changes will bind Leslie and Irial together, drawing Leslie deeper and deeper into the faery world, unable to resist its allures, and helpless to withstand its perils. . . .

What do you think of my teaser? Have you read the series? I love how dark and sensual and unapologetic it is. It's one of my favorite fairy serieses because all the courts are so distinct from one another but they need balance to coexist. And I love the characters. Saying goodbye was really hard.

Hey guys! Switching things up, you're getting a teaser from me this Tuesday because I already did today's TTT topic, Top Beach Reads, last year and I don't feel like doing it again. So instead I'm going to tease you. Literally.

A T-shirt and flannel pajama shorts were not sexy, I told myself as I looked down at my outfit.. But
when he came out of the bathroom, shirtless, with his hair wet, and took in the sight of me sitting on his bed, I felt as if I were wearing something silky and minuscule. I guess the shower hadn't helped much.
"I should probably sleep on the couch," I offered.
 Please say no.
"No."
-Sweet Peril, page 277

Goodreads description:
Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Have you read Sweet Peril or Sweet Evil? What are your thoughts about the series and how do you like my teaser? Let me know in the comments, and link me back to your own TT posts :)

Teaser Tuesday: Faefever, by Karen Marie Moning

Hey guys! Today's TTT is about light&fun books but honestly I don't think I could come up with 10 that I really like and don't have anything dark at all in them ^^'' I'm a tad scared of what that says about my reading taste. What can I say, I like my humor dark.

So I'm being a tease today...

"Barrons was powerful, broodingly good-looking, insanely wealthy, frighteningly intelligent, and had exquisite taste, not to mention a hard body that emitted some kind of constant low-level charge. Bottom line: He was the stuff of heroes.
And psychotic killers.
If there's one thing I've learned in Dublin, it's that there's a fine line between the two."
-Faefever, page 44

I'm not giving you the Goodreads description because this is book 3 and I don't want to spoil anything bout book 1 and 2 in case you haven't read them yet. You can check out the first book here: Darkfever

What do you guys think about my teaser? Barrons is such a fascinating character! I like him. I know he's dangerous but I like him anyway. He's not one of those obviously redeemable bad boy types, he's a real beast. His danger is not just a front. He's mysterious. So yeah, I shouldn't but I like him.
If you can recommend any other books with that type of characters, feel free to do that too ;)

Teaser Tuesday: Hamlet... Taking Chances

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Hey guys! It's been a while since I did a Teaser Tuesday, and since today's Top Ten Tuesday topic (10 favorite books I read before I started blogging) doesn't make a lot of sense for me to do as it would consist of many German books that haven't been translated, I decided now would be a good time to switch things around a bit.

On another note, I'm sorry about posting so few reviews lately!! The reason is that I have a lot of real life changes going on. I need to find an affordable apartment for May 1, and in this city I basically need a miracle (or A LOT of time-consuming hunting) to do that. Also, I just quit two jobs on Monday because from mid-May onwards I will have one job that pays well enough. No more Saturday work for me! I worked almost every Saturday for 3 years...

Anyhow, on with the teasers... click the book covers to get to Goodreads.

Teaser #1
"Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried,
Grapple them unto thy soul with hoops of steel,
But do not dull thy palm with entertainment
Of each new-hatched, unfledged courage."

- Polonius to his son Laertes upon his leaving for France, Hamlet I.iii.61-64.

Teaser #2

"I tore my eyes away from his to look at Bree, 'You know him?' Everyone started laughing except for the guy standing next to me. His eyebrows were raised and his perfect mouth was slightly open. I guess women don't turn him down often.
'Well, I'd like to think so, he is my brother.'
Oh. Crap."

What do you guys think of my teasers? Have you read any of the books? And what are you reading this Tuesday?

I decided to switch things up a little again and do a Teaser Tuesday instead of a Top Ten...
First some info about that book I'm teasing you with, which is the second in Rachel Vincen'ts Shifters series. I read book one over the weekend and just had to download the next one right away ^^'

Relase date: May 1, 2008
Publisher: Harlequin / MIRA
Format: Mass market paperback, 394 pages

Goodreads description:

Cats don't always land on their feet

I know that better than most. Since rejoining the Pride, I've made big decisions and even bigger mistakes: the kind paid for with innocent lives. As the first and only female enforcer, I have plenty to prove to my father, the Pride and myself. And with murdered toms turning up in our territory, I'm working harder than ever, though I always find the energy for a little after-hours recreation with Marc, my partner both on and off duty. But not all my mistakes are behind me. We're beginning to suspect that the dead are connected to a rash of missing human women and that they can all be laid at my feet—two or four, take your pick. And one horrible indiscretion may yet cost me more than I can bear.

So here's my teaser...

"My father was a bit of a rebel among the other Territorial Council Members, Alphas each of the nine other territories. Rather than passing the south-central Pride on to my future husband - Marc, if my paretns have any say in the matter - he wanted to hand the reins over to me. That very concept was sending shock waves of anger and impropriety throughout certain elements of the council. If my father's scandalous scheme ever came to fuition, I would someday have an opportunity to change the system from the inside.
It was the 'inside' part that bothered me."- Rogue, loc. 378 / 7%

What do you guys think? I really love that this series focuses on were-cats rather than the ubiquitous were-wolves!! Also, Faythe is plenty sassy and I love watching her navigate her difficult situation as the first female enforcer (and future Alpha) ever!!
Have you heard of/read the series? What are you thoughts on my teaser?

Alright, today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is just too hard to choose >.< I don't like picking and limiting my options. Top Ten favorite characters in X genre? Can't do it...

So I'm teasing you instead ;)
After taking it easy on my Sequels Challenge so far, this is the third one I'm reading in the past week. Here's my teaser, scroll down for the book description:

add it on goodreads
"Schuyler felt her vision focus and her senses heighten. She knew she was moving fast - so quickly that it felt as though everyone else around her were standing still. Yet the woman was moving just as fast, if not faster, soaring across the narrow channels that wormed through the city, dodging speedboats and flying towards the other side of the river. But Schulyer was right at her heels, the two of them a blur of motion across the cityscape. Schuyler found herself unexpectedly exhilarated by the pursuit, as if she were stretching muscles she didn't know she had."
-Masquerade, page 13

Goodreads description:
Schuyler Van Alen wants an explanation for the mysterious deaths of young vampires. With her best friend, Oliver, Schuyler travels to Italy in the hope of finding the one man who can help - her grandfather. Meanwhile, back in New York, preparations are feverishly underway for the Four Hundred Ball, an exclusive gala hosted by the city's wealthy, powerful, and unhuman - a true Blue Blood affair.

But it's at the after-party, a masquerade ball thrown by the cunning Mimi Force, that the real danger lurks. Hidden behind the masks is a revelation that will forever change the course of a young vampire's destiny.

Rich with glamour, attitude, and vampire lore, this second installment in the Blue Bloods saga will leave readers thirsting for more.

What do you think of my teaser? Have you read the Blue Bloods novels? And what book did you choose this week? Link me up in the comments :)

Because of the nature of today's Top Ten Tuesday (I don't like to dwell on annoying characters) I've decided to tease you instead ;) I'm writing this Saturday night and will be in Barcelona as it goes online, so bear with me if it takes me till Thursday to get back to people (I'm back from my trip on Wednesday afternoon).

I'm not that far in this book yet but I'm really enjoying both the story and the writing!
Here is my teaser, it's our main character Alison having dinner at the cafeteria and meeting some of her fellow-patients for the first time.

add it on goodreads
'Age'?
'Sixteen. Well, seventeen next month.'
'Ooh, I love an older woman,' said Kirk, mock-leering. 'Favourite colour?'
The colour of serenity, of feeling safe and confident and whole. On the piano, it was the B-flat below middle C; in the alphabet, the first letter of my name.
'Violet', I said.
'So what's your psychosis?'
- paperback edition, page 72

About the book:
Once upon a time there was a girl who was special.

This is not her story.

Unless you count the part where I killed her.

Sixteen-year-old Alison has been sectioned in a mental institute for teens, having murdered the most perfect and popular girl at school. But the case is a mystery: no body has been found, and Alison’s condition is proving difficult to diagnose. Alison herself can’t explain what happened: one minute she was fighting with Tori—the next she disintegrated. Into nothing. But that’s impossible. Right?

Teaser Tuesday: Splintered, by A.G. Howard

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: • Grab your current read

After doing quite a few Top Ten Tuesdays, I've decided to mix things up a little and tease you guys again ;) I've just finished Splintered by A.G. Howard and it was amazing! One of my most anticipated releases of the year, and a great way to start reading them :) Since I haven't decided on my next read yet, I'll pick this book to tease you with...

Please meet Jeb:
" 'You know, you really should go to prom. Show up just like this and knock everyone on their asses. I guarantee you'll still have your dignity.' He studies my face with an expression I've only seen when he paints. Intense. Absorbed. As if he's considering the painting from every angle. Me from every angle. He's so close, I smell the raspberry on his hot breath. His gaze shifts to the dimple in my chin and my cheeks flame." - Paperback, page 27

And here's a snippet about Morpheus:
"Morpheus is not his true name. He is glory and deprecation - sunlight and shadows - the scuttle of scorpion and the melody of a nightingale. The breath of the sea and the cannonade of a storm. Can you relay birdsong, or the sound of wind, or the scurry of a creature across the sand? For the proper names of netherlings are made up of the life forces defining them. Can you speak these things with your tongue?" - Paperback, page 288

About the book:
This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.
When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.

What do you guys think of my teasers? Do they make you want to read the book? And what did you pick to tease the rest of us with this week?

It's been a while since I did one of these... I currently shouldn't be reading so much and writing on my essay more, but this is just such a perfect opportunity to procrastinate! At the moment I'm finally catching up on Kagawa's Iron Fey series and I really like this book! I think it's the best one so far, and I love the interactions between Ash and Meghan. It just all reads so easily...

"On each side of the camp, massive bonfires were lit, roaring up like phoenixes in the night, as the armies of Summer and Winter danced and drank and sang the night away. I hung back from the main fires, avoiding the dancing and the drinking and the other acts going on in the shadows."
-page 160

For once, I even managed to limit myself to two sentences! I feel sort of proud. What do you guys think of my teaser? Have you read any books in the series? Click the cover to get to goodreads.

Teaser Tuesday: Poison Eaters and Dark Magic

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Today I'm teasing you with two books. City of Dark Magic is an eARC I am currently reading and will be published by Penguin on November 27. The Poison Eaters is a short story collection by Holly Black, illustrated by her husband Theo Black.

This conversation takes place in the castle complex in Prague, between our protagonist Sarah and her new boss. They are discussing the history of the Lebkowicz family Sarah will be working for.

"What was Prince Max doing before he got his family stuff back?" Miles looked around as if the room might be bugged and leaned in close. "Officially, he was in banking. Really, he was the drummer in some sort of rock band in Los Angeles," whispered Miles. "But no one knows that and I didn't tell you."
[City of Dark Magic eARC, position 615 of 4563]

I don't know more about the Prince yet but I'm curious...
I'm loving the Prague scenery in this one. So many places I've been!

Matilda imagined Lydia and Julian dancing at the endless Eternal Ball. She pictured them on the streets she'd seen in pictures uploaded to Facebook and Flickr, trying to trade a bowl full of blood for their own deaths.
[The Coldest Girl in Coldtown, page 15]

I love this story. I already knew it from another anthology and re-reading just made me remember how awesome it was and long all the more for the full-length novel that will be coming... sometime... next year I think?
Holly Black's writing is just so gripping and courageous. I read her novel Tithe about 7 or so years ago, when I was 16, and it will stick with me forever. I got it at the library and read it twice before returning it. Since then I've read it about twice more.

Aaaanyhow, what do you guys think of my teasers? And what did you choose to tease the rest of us with this Tuesday? Link me up in the comments :)

• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

At the moment I'm reading Touch by Jus Accardo as a paperback and Crash by Nicole Williams as an eBook.

"You left. I didn't know where you'd gone."
He stepped past Alex, stopping only when his shoulder brushed mine. "I left when I heard your father get up."
From the corner of my eye, I could see Alex watching us, eyes narrow. "What is he talking about?"
Kale, apparently feeling helpful, answered for me. "I stayed with Dez last night. We took off our shirts."
I didn't have to see my face to know it turned a bright shade of red. Kale and I were going to discuss the appropriate level of sharing. Soon.
[Touch, page 132]

Jude Ryder wasn't only trouble, he was trouble with a side of danger and a dessert of heartache. I didn't talk the lingo of stereotypes, but I knew the path Jude was on and the one I was on would never intersect unless of of us forfeited our individual one to join the other.
I'd worked too hard for too long to allow mine to dead end.
[Crash, page 20 / position 236 of 3663]

What do you guys think of my picks? Have you read any of those books? And what teases do you have on offer this week? Tell me in the comments :)

add it on goodreads
This week's teaser is from The Shadow Society by Marie Rutkoski. I got an ARC on NetGalley but didn't get around to reading it before the release, which was last Tuesday. I'm about 20% in and I love it already!

"Conn shifted. His lips hardened, grew eager. Almost angry. He grasped my fingers, lowered them to his waist, and seized my upper arm. Gripped it to the bone. Yet I didn't pull away. I couldn't. He crushed me close. I strained closer. Our kiss was a deep, dark well, and I fell into it, and never wanted to sea the sun again." (eARC, position 688 of 3583)

I love how Darcy likens the kiss to falling into a well. She's great so far anyway, one of my favorite heroines I've read this year. I'm not telling you what happens immediately after this kiss though, only that it's nothing of the sexy variety ;)

Have you read The Shadow Society or is it on your TBR list? What are you teasing the rest of us with this Tuesday? Link me up in the comments :)

• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

First off, sorry for being not so active during the past week. I'm having a really busy time at university at the moment. I hope to have more time near the end of the week.

add it on goodreads

So, on to today's teaser! It's from Two and Twenty Dark Tales, an anthology coming out today that I got from NetGalley.  It features retellings of Mother Goose Rhymes from various authors. I'm only about halfway through but I'm enjoying most of the stories.

"She knew the knife in her cousin's hand was covered in her sister's blood. That was all she needed to know. She called upon the power of the clock. It wasn't difficult. The Witch hadn't told Cedric everything, and he was expecting a helpless princess." - Clockwork, by Leah Cypress

I know, more than two sentences. But they're short ;) Can you guess (from the story title) what Mother Goose Rhyme this is from? And what are you teasing us with this Tuesday?

Teaser Tuesday: Carnival of Souls

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Okay so I've only just started with this one (finally!) and I'd rather not skip ahead and spoiler myself...

This is from Mallory's point of view, page 11 in the UK paperback (Harper Collins):

"That meant she was caught living among the witches, preparing to fight daimons with only a human's defenses. Sometimes, guiltily, she admitted to herself that this wasn't the life she wanted. A stray thought of Kaleb flitted through her mind, but she knew without asking her father that he'd never agree to her changing her training or workout schedules so she had time to date."

Talk about caught in-between without belong anywhere! I'm really intrigued by Mallory's lifestyle so far but I'm only on page 17 and things are still a bit confusing.

I'm still not quite finished with my re-reading of Nevermore to prepare for Enshadowed, so I'm giving you a teaser from here this week. You can read my review here.

I am shamelessly extending the two sentences thing this time...

"Read me something?" She heard herself say, as though someone else was speaking through her.
He hesitated. Then, after a moment, she felt him slide nearer, causing every one of her senses to become amplified. His shoulder brushed against hers, igniting a tremble that ran through the length of her, and she tried to hide her shaking hands by gripping the sides of the book. He began turning pages once more. She could feel the movement of each sheet with her entire frame, fist as it lifted, then as it settled on the other side.
At last he stopped, and she stared down at the printed column of words, unable to comprehend a single one. His hand, warm and steady, wound its way around hers, wrapping it like a spider would its prey. She surrendered it to him, unable to watch even as his thumb traced the place, just above her knuckles, where he had once written his number in deep violet. Isobel ceased to breathe. Her heart pounded in her chest, her thoughts shattering into senseless fragments. All the while, her eyes remained trained and unblinking on the open page. [...]
"Ulalume," he began, and the word itself, which he'd pronounced "You-la-loom," flowed from him like a string of notes.
[Creagh, page 290-291]

*Sigh* I love Varen Nethers. I could have chosen so so many bits and pieces of this book. He is the guy I always wished I'd meet but never did. And to have a guy with his dark intensity settle beside me and read to me? Woah... But enough of my non-existent love-life :P

Teaser Tuesday: The Well of Lost Plots

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

I decided not to do a Top Ten Tuesday today because I can't possibly choose only 10 of the books I'm looking forward to reading this Fall, and looking at how long my TBR list is and knowing that I'll never be able to read all of it depresses me at the moment. So I'm sharing a teaser from my current read instead :)

I'm cheating a bit and sharing 3 sentences instead of two.

'...here are the main points of the news. Prices of semi-colons, plot devices, prologues and inciting incidents continued to fall yesterday, lopping twenty-eight points off the TomJones Index. The Council of Genres has announced the nominations for the 923rd annual BookWorld Awards; Heathcliff is once again to head the 'Most Troubled Romantic Lead' category for the seventy-seventh year running...'

Haha. This is the footnoterphone entry from page 7 of Jasper Fforde's The Well of Lost Plots, the third book in the Thursday Next series centering on SpecOp Literary Detective Thursday Next, newly also member of Jurisfiction and currently hiding in an unpublished (for a reason) novel.

This one was one of my dusty reads; I bought it more than a year ago and hesitated to read it because I didn't want to re-read book 2 but was fuzzy on what exactly happened. Well, today I saw there is a recap at the beginning...
These books are a must for all us book geeks! It's about a world where everyone is crazy about literature! Also, people travel by airship (planes are only for the military) and dodos (brought back from extinction) are popular pets. And I mean, who wouldn't want Thursday's talent? The woman can read herself into books! And I mean that physically and literally.
